2026 Summer Rebuild Challenge: Introducing the Winners
Twenty-two builders entered. Ten made the finals. After judging all ten finalists, our team selected three builds that stood out.
This season had range: a retired delivery van turned into a home on wheels, a muscle car rescued from serious collision damage, and a college student’s dream coupe built on just $8,000.
Here are the winners of the 2026 Summer Rebuild Challenge.
First Place: Jason’s 2021 RAM ProMaster
Prize: $2,000 + 1-Year Premium Membership
Most people would see a totaled Amazon delivery van as scrap. Jason saw a campervan.
The rebuild was not cosmetic. To repair the damage properly, the engine and transmission had to come out so a frame member could be cut off and a new one welded in. That is serious structural work, the kind most builders avoid entirely.
With the frame sorted, Jason and his wife spent a year building out the interior themselves.
Then they took it to the Canadian Rockies for three weeks, traveling through Banff, Jasper, and Glacier.
That last part is what makes this build stand out. Plenty of rebuilds end with a finished vehicle and a photo. This one ended with a trip. A van written off as a total loss is now taking two people on adventures they might never have had otherwise.

Second Place: Cornell’s 2020 Dodge Charger Scat Pack
Prize: $1,000 + 1-Year Premium Membership
Front-end damage is hard to fix. Side damage is another challenge. This Charger Scat Pack had both.
A car like this gives a builder nowhere to hide. Everyone knows the lines of a modern Charger, and panel gaps that are even slightly off will show in every photo. Cornell got it right, and the finished car looks like nothing ever happened to it.
The community agreed. Cornell took second place in the judges’ rankings and won the People’s Choice Award through public voting — a double win that speaks for itself.

Third Place: Muadh’s 2007 Lexus IS 350
Prize: $500 + 1-Year Premium Membership
Muadh is a college student. He wanted an IS 350, but he didn’t want to pay retail for one.
So he bought one at auction for roughly half its value, then put $8,000 into aftermarket parts to build the car he actually wanted rather than the one the factory sold.
The result turns heads, but the best part is what Muadh made possible on a student budget. He had a clear vision for his build and found a way to make it happen.
At 21, he’s already driving a car built around his own vision.

Meet the Other Finalists
The top three took the lead, but the other finalists had plenty to show, too.
Jordan — 2022 Ford Bronco and 2015 GMC Sierra 1500
Jordan entered two builds this season. The Bronco received new airbags and a front cap, while the Sierra needed subframe repairs, new suspension, wheel repairs, and bodywork.

AFTER

Mason — 2024 Polaris RZR Pro R
Mason’s was one of the most involved builds of the season. He stripped the suspension, welded a new lower driver-side A-arm tab, and had every component powder-coated. Aftermarket ball joints and axles went in, along with a rebuilt used driver-side shock to match the others.
The upgrades continued with new plastics, doors, aftermarket seats, PRP harnesses for all four occupants, a new cage and roof, a front bumper, rock lights, whips, an intercom and helmet air system, a new switch panel and center console, and replacement wheels and tires.
Every bolt was torqued to spec, and the accessory wiring was routed through the cage for a clean finish.

AFTER

Salvador — 2016 Dodge Challenger
Significant front-end collision damage called for extensive repairs to the hood, bumper, and fender. The finished Challenger showcases its signature red exterior, contrasting black hood, and bold SRT styling.
BEFORE

AFTER

Erich — 2005 Chevrolet Corvette
This Chevrolet Corvette arrived with significant front-end damage and a missing front bumper, making it a challenging restoration project. The completed rebuild features a clean white exterior, a bold black racing stripe, and an aggressive, sporty look that highlights its classic American sports car styling.
BEFORE

AFTER

Kenneth — 2025 Ford Mustang
Kenneth bought this Mustang without realizing how badly it was damaged, since none of the airbags had deployed. The repairs included a complete ECU and wiring harness, the left front upper apron rail back to the firewall, and the entire front end: bumper cover, hood, both fenders, and liners. The door, in his words, looked like someone had attacked it with a can opener.
He replaced the radiators, condenser, and fan with OEM parts, then went well beyond the repairs. The upgrades included a Stage 3 VMP supercharger he installed himself, Boundary oil pump gear, ATI Super Damper, Stainless Works long-tube headers with a Kooks H-pipe, a Steeda “Stop the Hop” kit, Ferrada wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires, and dual catch cans.

AFTER

Margo — 2017 GMC Terrain SL
Margo’s rebuild involved repairing front-end collision damage, including the bumper, grille, and headlights.

What Stood Out This Season
Three things, looking back across the ten finalists.
Structural work showed up more than usual. Jason’s frame member, Kenneth’s apron rail, and Jordan’s subframe all required substantial repairs. These are jobs many builders might walk away from, but three finalists took them on.
A limited budget went a long way. Muadh’s build cost a fraction of what he would have paid for the same car at retail. His project is a great example of how buying at auction can make a desired car more affordable.
A build does not need to be exotic to win. Jason took first place with a converted delivery van. It’s the vision and work behind a build that make it stand out.

How to Submit Your Rebuild
1. Sign in to your account. You need an AutoBidMaster account to enter.
2. Fill out the submission form. Provide basic details about the vehicle, the rebuild, and your story. It takes about five minutes.
3. Upload your photos. Include at least four before photos and four after photos. Video is welcome, too.
4. Review and submit. Check your entry and send it in.
A few things can help your entry stand out: tell the story behind the build, not just the specs. Show the ugly stage, not only the finish. And if you solved a problem in an unusual way, explain how — those details could impress the judges.
